Paul Constantinou attended the recent ConFEAS Conference “Augmented Reality of Trading and Settlement Ecosystems” hosted by Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange on behalf of AFM. AFM and FEAS have reciprocal memberships and a strong relationship is developing. In many respects FEAS represents a market sector that is developing towards becoming potential AFM members as a number of its members are at various stages in the planning process ahead of the introduction of futures and derivatives trading.

The conference in a blend of keynotes and panels addressed a number of issues that have relevance beyond the immediate FEAS member base. These included a review of recent developments in the exchange industry, MiFID II – where this is 10 months after launch, current activity and regulation in the Crypto eco-system, sustainable stock exchanges, FINTECH in the context of distribution and investment inclusion, smart contracts, crowdfunding for SMEs.

Paul moderated a panel that discussed education, financial and media literacy programs in capital markets. This of course has relevance across the exchange landscape regardless of asset class and straddles areas such as reinvention of markets, the attraction and retention of new issuers and investors particularly millennials.
